Daniel D. Coccia, 91, of Marion

Daniel D. CocciaDaniel D. Coccia, age 91, of Marion, died Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Riverside Methodist Hospital.

One of six children, Daniel was born February 4, 1924 in Wooster, OH to the late Samuel and Carmella (Tigre) Coccia.

Daniel proudly served his County in the US Navy during World War II and later attended Ohio University where he studied Liberal Arts.  Daniel retired from Liberty Mutual Insurance Company as an Adjuster.

Daniel was a sport enthused, he made sure never to miss a Ohio State Buckeye’s Football or Basketball game nor a Cleveland Indian’s game and was a long time member of the Hickory Grove Golf Club. Daniel was a member of St. Mary Church, a family man, and most importantly a beloved Uncle to many.

Daniel is survived by sister; Emma Jane Barbier, brother, Ottovia Coccia;  nieces and nephews: Dave (Doris) Barbier, Deb (Al) Van Winkle, Dani Barbier, Dino Barbier, Nancy (Russ) Kuelz, Patsy (John) Coccia, Eileen (Paul) Coccia, Linda (Jon) Hall, Dr. Mike (Cyndy) Coccia, Susan Jones, and Joey Coccia. Daniel is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews along with great-great nieces and nephews.

Daniel was predeceased by brothers, Vitale, Guy Joe, and Urono Coccia; and brother-in-law, Roy J. Barbier.  Also, predeceased by one niece and several nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 AM _Wednesday, May 13th, 2015 at St. Mary Church, Marion with Father Thomas Buffer presiding. Calling will be held one half hour prior to the service and burial will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Military Honors will be presented by Marion County United Veterans Council.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made in Daniel’s honor to St. Mary Church, 251 N.
