Arvanna Reed Jackson Carter passed away in the Marion General Hospital on Friday, June 19, 2015, at 8:38 PM at the age of 85.
Arvanna was a longtime resident, born in Marion, Ohio to Archie and Odessa Reed of Mt. Vernon, Indiana. They preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by three son; Dwight, Gerald, and Jerald Jackson, two sisters; Patricia and Madline Reed of Dayton, OH., two brothers; Lyman Walker of Dayton, OH. and Ed Jackson of Flordia. She is survived by four children; Lenny Jackson of Waterloo, Iowa, Sherry Jackson of Dayton , OH., Rory Jackson of Springfield, OH., and Marvin (Michele) Jackson of Cincinnati, OH., a sister; Dora Carter of Evansville, IN., a brother; William Suggs of Terre Haute, IN., maternal grandchildren, Valene Henderson of Dayton, OH. and Jorell Henderson of Marion, OH. There is a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, & nephews, special nieces; Bina (James) Baker and Melissa Reed of Dayton, OH., and three special friends; Margurete, Catherine, & Mary.
Arvanna was known for her smile. She loved people. She was a 1948 graduate of Harding High School and a softball player for the Shantytown Girls. She was a domestic engineer working for Fulfillment Corp and was involved with Big Brothers & Big Sisters. She was the oldest member of Christ Missionary Baptist Church, a church historian, and worked in the kitchen for many years.
Friends may call at the Christ Missionary Baptist Church, 394 Fairview Ave., Marion, on Wednesday, June 24, 2015, from 11:00 AM until service time at 1:00PM. Pastor Cory Rogers will conduct the service and burial will be at a later date.
