James T Worcester, 80 of Marion passed away Monday, June 15 after a extended illness. As the gates of heaven opened up to Jim he was surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born on April 30, 1935 in El Paso, Texas to the late Clyde and Marion Worcester.
On July 24, 1966 he married his loving wife Patti Tigner who survives.
Jim is survived by daughter Jimette Ross and four grandchildren, Jaymes Codi Worcester, Colten Worcester, Caleb Ross, Wesley Bays and great grandson Julian Worcester all of Marion, a nephew Jessie Worcester, cousins Butch and Marge Worcester, Joyce and John Tyner, brother in-law Evert Tigner and special friends Diane Collins, Gary Lyons and Bobby Hamm.
Preceding him in death a son Cory Worcester and brother Sonny Worcester.
Special appreciation to Heartland Hospice, Veterans home base team Judy, David, Debbie and Robin from Interim.
Jim spent 7 years in the United States Marine Corp, he obtained the rank of staff sergeant while serving during the Korean Conflict. He also obtained numerous medals and ribbons.
Jim spent ten years working at Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach, CA, then moved to Marion to work ten years at Armco Steel and 22 years at Marion Steel as a supervisor, he retired in 2003.
Jim was a 1953 graduate of Martel School, a member of the American Legion of Caledonia Post 401 and a member of Fite Memorial Baptist Church.
Memorial Services will be at Trinity Baptist Church, 244 S. Main St, Marion, visiting hours at 3:00 pm, funeral at 4:00 pm, Sunday, June 21, with Dr. Richard Farmer officiating, luncheon to follow.
