Jesse Albert Metzger age 61 of Marion, passed away on Monday evening June 8, 2015 at the Marion General Hospital.
Jesse was born on November 27, 1953 in Marion, the son of Harold and Mary Louise (Aventino) Metzger.
Jesse loved life and stayed very active throughout his years. In his younger days he loved to work out and he enjoyed boxing. He also could be found playing a hand of cards or taking in a football game. He was a lover of music, especially Elvis Presley and Jimmy Swaggart. He even authored a book called “Jesse’s Way”.
Jesse was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off of his back. He would put others needs above his own and was most happy when he was with his family, especially the grandchildren. He had a tremendous sense of humor and a deep rooted faith that sustained him and brought him peace.
He is survived by his children: Chasity Metzger, Mandy Metzger, Bobbie Jo Metzger, Tommy James Metzger and Jessica (Shane) Oliver; grandchildren: Shawna Ball, Kourtnie Shockey, DJ Wood III, Jason Gier Jr., Megan Gier, Allison Main, Brittany Shepherd, Jordan Shepherd, Julian Gallegos, Natalaya Metzger, Legend Metzger, MacKenzie Metzger, Phoenix Metzger, Logan Oliver, Liam Oliver and a grandson on the way; One great granddaughter Adelynn Shockey; sisters: Mary Ann Cooper, Linda Caudill and Clara Litteral.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a son Shawn Metzger and a grandson Dylan Wood.
Visitation will be held on Monday June 15, 2015 at Gunder/Hall & Folk Funeral Home, 347 West Center St., Marion from 10AM to 12Noon; Funeral services will be held Monday evening at 6:30PM at Fairpark Community Baptist Church, 940 Bermuda Drive, Marion.
