Ivan Elton Harmon, 76, of Marion

Ivan Elton HarmonIvan Elton Harmon, 76, of Marion, Ohio passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on July 8, 20015 at Riverside Methodist Hospital after suffering a stroke.

Harmon as he was affectionately called by those who loved him was born in Hurricane, West Virginia to George Harmon Sr. and Alberta (Smith) Harmon Schulze. He graduated from Marion Harding High School. Harmon was retired from Marion City Schools, prior to that he was an assembler at Tecumseh Products.

He is survived by his wife Sharon (Roope) Harmon, son Ryan (Katie) Harmon, grandchildren Airian, Quinlan and Grayson Harmon, Cory, Logan and Reece Pierce, sisters-in-law Ann (Ron) Green, Beverly (Dan) Barr and Paula (Carl) Sizemore, five nephews and one niece. Harmon also left behind many friends, golfing buddies and his beloved rescue dog Bentley.

Harmon was preceded in death by his parents, his brother George “JR” Harmon, and his mother and father in law, Paul and Ruth Roope. Harmon was a lifelong avid golfer and a big supporter of Marion Harding Athletics. He was a member of Moose Lodge 889 where he held “court” with his friends.

Calling hours will be July 13, 2015 from 2 PM to 4 PM at Boyd-Born Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life officiated by Gary Lyons will follow calling hours. Memorial contributions in Ivan’s can be made to the American Cancer Society. On line condolences may be made to www.boydbornfuneralhome.com
