Janell Owens, age 82, of Marion passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at 4:33 PM in the Marion General Hospital.
Janell was born in Molina, Georgia on December 23, 1932 to Jim and Jesse (Sutton) Terry.
She married Preston L. Owens and he preceded her in death on May 13, 1994 in Marion.
Janell was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and the Retired Teachers Association of Ohio.
She was employed with the Marion City Schools as a custodian at the Harding High School for 15 years before her retirement in 1974.
Surviving are three sons; Marvin (Letitia) Owens of Marion, OH., Glenn (Virginia) Terry of Zebulon, GA., and Willie (Vanessa) Owens of Marion, OH., a sister; Geraldine Burden of Concorde, GA., a daughter-in-law; Constance Terry of Albuquerque, N.M., 14 grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.
Janell was preceded in death by two sons; Preston Terry & Tommy Lee Owens, three brothers; Harvey & Bennie Terry, Jessie Loveless, and a sister; Doris Leftwich.
Visiting hours will be held in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Friday, July 24, 2015, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Rev.Greg Draper will conduct the funeral service in the church on Friday at 1:00 PM with burial to follow in the Grand Prairie Cemetery.
