Leila J. “Lee” Galloway, 85, of Marion

Leila J. “Lee” GallowayLeila J. “Lee” Galloway, of Marion, died peacefully Tuesday evening, July 28, 2015, at Heartland of Marion following a brief illness.  She was just a few days shy of her 86th birthday.

On July 31, 1929, Lee was born in Radnor, Ohio, one of four children of the late Allen and Florence (Best) Cryder.  She was raised in Marion, Ohio, and graduated from Harding High School in the class of 1947.  She then furthered her education earning a degree from the Marion Business College.

Shortly following school, Lee was introduced to a young gentleman, Kenneth Galloway, by her good friend, Florence Wright.  From there, the rest was history.  They were married on July 13, 1957.  They shared over thirty six loving years of marriage.  He preceded her in death on April 19, 1993.

Lee worked in the insurance industry with various companies for over 40 years, finishing her career with Scharer Insurance in 1998.  Her focus was property and casualty insurance.

A woman of faith, Lee was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church.

Always up for an adventure, Lee loved to go on family vacations to the beach or state parks.  She also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and watching cooking and court shows on tv.  Lee had a very fun loving, silly and spunky personality.  She truly loved life and cherished all the little things.

Warm hearted, Lee cared deeply for everyone, especially her beloved family, and would do anything for anyone.  Lee truly lived for her family, and cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Tami (Chapman) Galloway; four grandchildren: Matthew (Kim) Newell, Douglas Newell, Mollee (Luiyi Nunez) Galloway and Mallory Galloway; a great-grandson, Conner; two sisters-in-law: Joanne Galloway and Trudy Galloway; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Including her husband and parents, Lee was preceded in death by her son, Michael Newell; and three siblings: Norman Cryder, Lavon Raidel and Barbara Cryder.
