Rudolph A. “Rudy” Scholz, age 93, of Marion, died Saturday afternoon, July 18, 2015, at the Genesis Presidential Center.
Rudy was born on March 30, 1922, to the late Arthur and Marie (Fiolka) Scholz in Dayton, OH. Shortly after high school, Rudy enlisted in the United States Navy and served in the South Pacific area as a fireman during World War II.
On August 28, 1949, Rudy married the late Barbara M. Miller whom preceded him in death in September of 2012. Together they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage.
For over 25 years, Rudy worked as a tool and die maker for Ranco.
Rudy is survived by his children: Rebecca S. (Jon) Shipman of Edison, Geoffrey A. Scholz of Marion, and John “Kim” (Karol) Scholz of Sunbury; seven grandchildren: Hannah, Abigail and Naomi Shipman, Mallory (Anthony) Caeton, Hillary Scholz, Andrew (Vanessa) Scholz, and Elizabeth (Ryan) Stroop; and four great-grandchild: Rory Caeton, Brooklyn Scholz, Mason Scholz, and Ella Stroop.
His was preceded in death by his wife; parents; a brother, Herbert; and a sister, Miriam Rosenberger.
Rudy’s family will greet friends on Thursday, July 23, 2015, from 10 AM to 11 AM at The First Church of The Nazarene, 233 W. Church St. The funeral service will begin at 11 AM, with Pastor Steve deWeber officiating. Burial with military honors will be provided by the Marion County United Veterans Council in Grand Prairie Cemetery.
