Terry Edwin Nitz, age 71, of Marion passed away late Wednesday afternoon at his home.
Born in Benton Harbor, Michigan on May 1, 1944 to Leonard and Gloria (Swope) Nitz, he served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Era.
Terry was a salesperson of modular homes and married the former Karen Conners on June 24, 2006 in Marion. He was a member of Salem Church of God where he had served as both a Deacon and Trustee and also belonged to a local group called the Men of Faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother; Tom Nitz and a sister; Sally (Nitz) Bushe. Surviving are his wife; Karen Nitz at home, a son; Justin Nitz of Portland, Oregon, a daughter; Kimberly Olea (Oscar Olea Cruz), 2 stepdaughters; Juanita (Mike) Dowdy and Julia (Louis) Smith II, 2 stepsons; William (Dorothy) Malone II and Samuel (Crystal) Malone, 3 brothers; Tim (Terri) Nitz, Ted (Kelly) Nitz and Todd (Sheri) Nitz, all of Michigan, 9 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and Little Buddy Petey.
Friends may call Sunday from 4-6 PM at the Hughes-Allen Funeral Home. A service celebrating Terry’s life will be held Monday at 10:30 AM at the Hughes-Allen Funeral Home with Pastors Logan Ames and Willis Moe officiating. Burial will follow in Agosta Cemetery where military honors will be presented by the Marion County Joint Veteran’s Council.
