Donna R. Calbert passed away early Saturday morning at Marion Manor Nursing Center at the age of 97.
She was born October 13, 1917 in Richland Township, Marion County to Fred and Mabel (Fisher) Geckley.
On October 13, 1933 she was married to James E. Calbert. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage together before his death in January, 1999.
She was a homemaker raising five children and was employed at S.S. Kresge Company retiring in 1975. Jim and Donna enjoyed bowling and golfing and were members of Green Acres Golf Course. They also enjoyed 17 years wintering in North Fort Myers, Fla where she enjoyed line dancing and bingo. She was a member of the Lee Street Presbyterian Church and was active until her later years. She made her home for several years with her daughter Judie Thompson until she went to the Marion Manor Nursing Center.
She is also survived by her daughter Norma J. (Ernie) Denney and two sisters Leola Beatty and Joan Miller. She was predeceased by her husband Jim, son James S. (Doc) Calbert and daughters Shirley Connelly and Virginia (Ginny) Thacker. Two sons-in-law Carroll Connelly and Dennie Thompson and Great Grandson Matthew Thacker, Granddaughter Jodi Calbert and great granddaughter Megan Thacker as well as two brothers Ray Geckley and Floyd Mailey. She is survived by 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home with visitation one hour before service from 11:OO A.M. to 12:OO Noon with celebration of her life at 12 Noon on Wednesday August 12, 2015 officiated by A.I.M. Kevin Kehn with burial in Marion Cemetery immediately following.
