Michael Charles Glasco, 75, of Marion

Michael Charles GlascoMichael Charles Glasco, age 75, of Marion, died peacefully Tuesday evening, August 25, 2015, at the Presidential Center following an extended illness.

On July 21, 1940, Michael was born in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, the younger of two children of the late Charles Oscar and Elizabeth Ann (Brewer) Glasco.  Soon thereafter, his family moved to Marion, where he graduated from Marion Harding High School in the class of 1958.

While visiting Cedar Point on July 4, 1962, one of the worker’s there caught Michael’s eye, Phyllis Huffman.  After playing hard to get, Phyllis eventually gave in and the rest was history.  They were married on June 16, 1963, and have shared over fifty two wonderful years of marriage and lovingly raised two children, Linda and Greg.

For over twenty years, Michael worked as a machinist for the Erie Railroad, which became Conrail.  Next, he worked as a custodian and helped with maintenance at Tri-Rivers Career Center for over twenty five years, retiring in 2005.

A man of faith, Michael was a member of the Gethsemane Lutheran Church.  Formerly, he was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Marion, where he served on church council, sang in the choir, and often shared his opinions.

With a love for music, Michael thoroughly enjoyed singing with the Marionnaires for many years.  He also had an extensive phonograph and record collection.

Always up for an adventure, Michael and his family shared many travels together.  They have countless stories from their trip across the U.S. in their pickup truck, and they loved visiting professional baseball parks.

Dedicated to his family, Michael especially took pride in being the best father he could be.  He was extremely passionate, engaging, and supportive of them through all of their lives and activities.  He also enjoyed coaching many of Greg’s ball teams while he was growing up.

Left to cherish his memory, are his wife, Phyllis Glasco of Marion; two children: Linda (Scott) Pansing of Delaware, and Greg Glasco of Columbus; several nieces and a nephew; and his two beloved canine companions, his beagles Jack and Jill.

Including his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his sister, Bonnie Cook.

His family will greet friends from 10 – 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2015, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion.  Services honoring his life will follow there at 11 a.m., with Rev. Brett Cornelius officiating.  After a meal in his honor at St. Paul Lutheran Church, graveside services will be observed at 2 p.m. in Old Mission Cemetery in Upper Sandusky.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Gethsemane Lutheran Church or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and they may be sent to the care of the funeral home.

Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home is honored to have been chosen to serve Michael’s family and your condolences may be expressed to them by visiting www.SnyderFuneralHomes.com.
