Stanley S. “Stan” Uncapher, 79, of Fredericktown

Stanley S. “Stan” UncapherStanley S. “Stan” Uncapher, age 79, of Fredericktown, went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday morning, August 24, 2015, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.

On October 7, 1935, Stan was born in Marion, the son of the late George E. and Lois M. (Elwonger) Uncapher.  He graduated from Ashland High School in the Class of 1953, and then furthered his education, receiving a Bachelor’s in Agriculture from The Ohio State University.  He was in the ROTC and was a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Stan worked his entire life as a farmer.  He farmed over 165 acres; growing organic crops and raising cross bread angus beef cattle.  He loved being outdoors working with the cattle and his chickens.  He enjoyed working with his vegetable garden and fruit trees, then canning his produce.  He also spent 15 years running a logging business.  He retired from farming in 2010.

Stan loved his Lord and Savior, and was a member of the New Testament Missionary Baptist Church for the last 10 years.  He enjoyed the fellowship he had with his church family.  He was also a member of the Farm Bureau and the Tea Party.

Stan was a people person, never meeting a stranger.  He would strike up a conversation with anyone at any time.  He had a kind heart and always helped people.  He loved his family with all of his heart.

Stan will be dearly missed by his wife, Luan, of Fredericktown; a daughter, Lory (Frank) Meredith of Sunbury; a son, Thomas (Heather) Uncapher of Sunbury; three grandchildren: Alex, Jessica, and Andrew Uncapher; a sister, Barbara Clark of Columbus; a brother-in-law, William Fry of Mansfield; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dale Uncapher; a brother, Alan Uncapher; two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.

The Uncapher family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2015, at the New Testament Missionary Baptist Church, 5560 State Route 95, Mount Gilead, OH 43338.  Services honoring his life will be held there at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 28, 2015 with Pastor William Kirk and Deacon Aaron Beacom officiating.  Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery in Chesterville.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the COPD Foundation or to New Testament Missionary Baptist Church.
