Taken away too soon Dennis Ralph Probst, 56, of Marion, Ohio passed away peacefully at home on Friday October 23, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.
He was diagnosed with FTD-Frontotemporal Dementia in 2013. Always a fighter, Dennis hated to lose this battle.
Dennis was born on March 22, 1959 in Harrisburg, Pa to the late Ralph and Catherine (Novosel) Probst. Dennis was one of six children. After his mother passed away in 1970, his father was the biggest influence in his life; and also his best friend.
Dennis graduated from Susquehanna High School where he participated in basketball, track and football. He then went on to Slippery Rock University where he graduated Cum Laude in 1981.
After graduation, Dennis went to work for the US Army Corps of Engineers as a Federal Park Ranger. Retiring after 31 years of service, he worked at lakes in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. He finished his career at the Delaware Dam.
On October 10, 1987 in Youngstown, Ohio; Dennis married the love of his life Donna (Seach) Probst. Together they successfully raised two beautiful children; Zachary and Rachel Probst, both of Marion, Oh. Dennis loved cheering them on as they grew into young adults. He was so very proud of the accomplishments they have achieved in life so far.
Dennis loved camping, boating, riding his motorcycle and deer and small game hunting with family. He was also a 25 year state licensed Ohio High School Athletic Association basketball and football referee. In addition; he refereed games for the Women’s Professional Football League and the Indoor Professional Football League. Dennis loved to watch professional football games with his crazy family. A gifted conversationalist; his stories will be missed by all who knew him.
Proceeded in death by his mother, father and brother Dave of Harrisburg, Pa; he leaves behind his stepmother, Phyllis Probst of Harrisburg, Pa; life long friends Tom, MIK and Dave; sister-in-law Mary Ann Quinn and brother-in-law Mike Seach of Austintown, Oh, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews who will dearly miss their Uncle D.
Per Dennis’s request, cremation has taken place and a private celebration of life will be held in his honor.
The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for everything they have done, especially Laurie and Carl. The Boyd-Born Funeral Home of Marion, Ohio handled the arrangements. On line condolences to the family can be made at www.boydbornfuneralhome.com.
