John D. Bowers, 56, of Marion

John D. BowersJohn D. Bowers, age 56 of Marion, passed away on Tuesday evening, October 27, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

John was born on January 26, 1959 in Marion, the son of James W. and JoAnn (Moore) Bowers-Titus. John attended Harding High School and graduated in the class of 1977. Upon graduation, John enlisted into the United States Marines, proudly serving his country. After his Honorable discharge from the Marines, John was a “jack of all trades” serving in many ways among which was time spent working at Leibert-Emerson Electric in Delaware.

On January 28, 2000, John was united in marriage to Donna L. Jett; together they cherished each other and the years spent together.

John loved spending time camping at their site at Hidden Lakes, he also enjoyed hunting and occasionally casting a line in the water. Above all, John adored his family and time spent with his grandchildren was a gift to be cherished.

He was a lifelong member of the Forest Lawn Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge.
John is survived by his devoted wife Donna L. Bowers; children: Ashley (Ryan) Bugg, Danyle (Eddie) Lechler and Lonnie (Lauren) Buckner, Jr.; 9 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; his mother JoAnn Titus; brother Daniel W. Bowers and step-siblings: Diane Heiss, Linda Wilson, Jodi Thorpe and John D. Titus.

He is preceded in death by his father James W. Bowers and step-father Lowell Titus and his brother Timothy J. Bowers.

Visitation will be held on Friday October 30, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center St. Marion, from 4PM to 7PM; Funeral services will be held on Saturday at the funeral home at 10AM with Pastor Ed Rollins officiating; Burial will be in Maskill Cemetery with military honors being observed.
