Frank Esley Benson, 82, of LaRue

Frank Esley BensonFrank Esley Benson 82, of LaRue died Friday evening November 27, 2015 at his rural home.

He was born December 1, 1932 in Hardin County to the late Esley and Anna (Wolf) Benson, Frank was also predeceased by five brothers: Walter, Ed, John, Jim, and Tom Benson, one sister: Mary Appelfeller and 3 nieces and nephews

Frank was a 1950 graduate of the LaRue High School, he then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps., where he served for 11 yrs. in both active duty and the reserves.

He retired from the Whirlpool Corp. in 1994 as a tow motor operator, but his true passion was working the family farm.  Frank had owned and operated the former Frank’s Place in Mt.Victory, had been a member of the former St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in LaRue and attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kenton, he was a founding member of the Eagles Lodge #3615 at Indian Lake and a member of the Phillippi-Clements American Legion Post #101, LaRue.

Frank was a true outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved family get togethers and watching sports, especially the O.S.U. Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns.

Surviving are three sisters: Alice Cochran, Clarksville, Tn., Irene Ballinger, Rancho Mirage, Ca. and Barbara Cronin, Palm Springs, Ca., 38 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews, all of whom loved and adored him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday December 5, 2015 by Father Thomas Buffer at the St. Mary Church in Marion, burial will follow in the LaRue Cemetery, where there will be veteran graveside services conducted by the Marion County United Veterans Council, friends may call Friday from 4-7 pm at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home in LaRue, where rosary services will begin at 7:00 pm.
