Betty Jean Simmons, age 87, of Marion passed away on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at 8:50 AM in the Presidential Center following a brief illness.
She was born in Mechanicsburg, Ohio on June 20, 1928 to the late Frank P. and Mary E. (Wood) Lilley.
Betty married Edward T. Simmons in Covington, Kentucky on November 30, 1947 and he preceded her in death in Marion, Ohio on December 7, 1996.
She was a member of the Forest Lawn Presbyterian Church and graduated from Richwood High School. Betty worked for a short time in the Marion County Courthouse as a clerk but for most of her life she was a loving mother and homemaker.
The lifelong Marion resident is survived by a daughter; Pamela S. (Richard C.) Dune II of Warren, OH.,a son; Daniel L. (Alexandria) Simmons of Ashley, OH., six grandchildren, and one great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son; Steven W. Simmons and a sister; Donna Ross.
No calling hours will be observed. Pastor Ed Rollins will conduct a graveside service on Saturday, December 26, 2015, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel Heights Memory Gardens.
