On Saturday, December 19, 2015 @ 10:10 am, Heaven gained a very special angel, with the passing of Mary Slane Lore Dutton. Mary was surrounded by her loving family, after fighting a courageous battle with her health for the past several years. She was born May 8, 1941 in Marion, Ohio.
Mary graduated in 1959 from Marion Harding High School, where she made lifelong friendships. Retirement was not in her vocabulary. She was a member of the Executive Board of the Marion Popcorn Festival, as acting Treasurer, and ran the Popcorn Parade for the past 13 years. She was a member of the local Moose Lodge, loved to travel and spend time with her family.
She was the daughter of Violet & Chalmer Pickens and Lester Slane. Mary is survived by her three daughters, Sabrina Cranmer, Angela (Dan) Apthorp and Cyndra (Mark) Jackson, her sister and best friend, Diane Dachenbach, brothers, Robert Pickens, Mark (Teresa) Pickens, Tim (Krista) Pickens, Scott (Shelly) Pickens, sister- in- law, Charlene Dutton and special friend, Nancy Roberts, 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her one true love, Richard Lore, William Dutton, brother, Jack and grandson, Joshua.
Calling hours along with a Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, December 22, 2015 from 5 – 8 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home with Rev. Merlyn Winters officiating. Interment will be held at a later date.
