Nellie Mae (Kaylor) Klingler, 98, of Marion

Nellie Mae (Kaylor) Klingler, 98, was born November 14, 1917 in Nashville, Ohio, the daughter of Nellie Mae (Schopfer) and Henry Bates Kaylor. She died peacefully, though unexpectedly, on Sunday, November 29, 2015.

An only child, Nell’s mother died on November 15, 1917, the day after giving birth. She was then raised in part by her grandparents, John and Rachel Kaylor in Holmes County and graduated from Nashville High School in 1935.

On December 26, 1936 she married Ted Klingler in Covington, Kentucky.

She is survived by her children; Roger (Cherie) Klingler and Karen (David) Ream. She leaves behind four beloved grandchildren, Kimberly (Paul) Roeder of Rockbridge, Ohio, Bob Klingler of Bessemer, Alabama, Chad (Julie) Ream of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Christopher Ream of Marion, Ohio. She cherished her great grandchildren; Wesley and Katie Roeder and Samantha and Nicholas Ream. She is also survived by her “sister”; Ethel Mae Ford of Goldsboro, N.C. and her sister-in-law; Mary Klingler of Beach City, Ohio.

Preceding her in death were her husband; Ted, who died in April 1992, her daughter-in-law; Carolyn Klingler, and her sisters and brother-in-law; Bernard Klingler, Ray and Kathryn Klingler, and Lloyd and Ruth Hamm.

Nell was an intense sports fan watching nearly every Cleveland Indians televised game. She loved the Browns, the CAVS, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. She was an avid duplicate bridge player and appreciated being challenged by Marion’s finest bridge Masters. She played in two additional bridge groups and every partner and every opponent were special friends.

Beside her love of sports and her love of bridge, she was especially devoted to the special needs of her grandson; Christopher. Together with the love they shared for each other, Chris was able to reach many important milestones. This was a relationship rarely capable of duplication and Nanny and Chris enjoyed nearly every Saturday night together. Christmas was a special time of year for Nell and she especially loved sharing this holiday with her family and friends.

Calling hours will be held from 3 – 6 PM on Thursday evening, December 3, 2015, at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home with services at the funeral home by Rev. Frank Isaacs on Friday morning at 10:30 AM. Interment will be in the Nashville Cemetery in Nashville, Ohio.

If so desired, memorial contributions may be made to MARCA or the Christopher Ream Scholarship Fund, established at the Marion Community Foundation to benefit students pursuing careers in medicine or any degree working to help those with disabilities.
