Starling Gibson Harriman Andrews, age 94, of Marion passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2015, at 6:45 PM in the Genesis Presidential Center.
She was born on May 31, 1921 in Union County to the late Curtis and Irene (Columber) Gibson.
Starling was a lifelong member of the Marion community and worked many places retiring in 1980 from the Marion General Hospital after 24 years as a nurse’s aide. She was a member of the Berean Baptist Church and a life member of PERS.
Surviving are three stepsons; Bob (Lois) Andrews of Beech Grove, IN., Tom (Vickie) Andrews of Caledonia, OH., & Mike (Kelly) Andrews of Marion, OH., two stepdaughters; Shirley Berry & Judy Shumaker both of Marion, OH., a brother; Clifford (Starling) Gibson of Richwood, OH., six grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, along with numerous step & step great grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three husbands; Ray Dickerson, Ray Harraman, and Sidney Andrews, three sons; William Dickerson, Richard “Dick” Dickerson, & James “Jim” Dickerson, five sisters; Norma Jean Painter, Ruth Hinton, Christine Shrout, Lois Plikerd, & Carol Lee Hart, and two brothers; Giles Gibson & Larry Gibson.
Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Sunday, December 6, 2015, from 2:00 – 6:00 PM. The funeral will be held in the Berean Baptist Church, 131 Marion-Cardington Rd., Marion on Monday at 10:30 AM with burial to follow in the Marion Cemetery. Pastors Charles Reed & Chris Peria will be officiating.
