David E. Lust, age 68 of Waldo, died unexpectedly of natural causes at home on Tuesday, January 19, 2016.
David was born on July 17, 1947 in Marion, the son of David William and Violet Winifred (Lingrel) Lust.
David proudly served his county in the United States Army, being stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. He was employed by OhiGro as a truck driver from which he retired.
He had the heart of a servant and was a blessing to many. Wearing his trademark wooden cross, he would faithfully visit those who could not easily get out and about. He also donated countless pints of blood and platelets throughout the years through the American Red Cross. Since 1993, David has sponsored numerous children through World Vision.
David was a lifetime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church where he has served as deacon, elder and Lutheran Men-in-Mission. He was a member of the Waldo Sportsman Club, the VFW and the Waldo American Legion Post.
He is survived by his children: Matthew (Nicole) Lust, Shannon (Bryan) Miles and Beth Collins; Grandchildren: Matthew James Lust, Kaitlyn Ann Lust, Anna Rainier Miles, Harper Dale Miles, Morgan Collins, Lucy Frances Ciliento-Wilson and Noah Michael Ciliento-Wilson; siblings: Donald (Sonja) Lust, Marge (Jack) Ferriman and Marilyn (Bill) Holloway and numerous nieces and nephews.
David is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Pat Lust.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center St., Marion from 2PM to 5PM; Funeral services will be held on Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 4535 Smeltzer Rd, Marion at 2PM with Pastor Ed Wahl officiating; Burial will be held Monday at 9:30AM at Marion Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church or the Wounded Warrior Project.
