Jack L. CottrillJack L. Cottrill, age 93, of Marion, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, January 16, 2016, at Kindred Nursing and Rehab Center.

On July 20, 1922, Jack was born in Marion to the late Cleo and Velma (Dutton) Cottrill.

A hardworking man, he spent many years bottling milk and making ice cream for Isaly’s and later worked for Marion Power Shovel.

Jack enjoyed traveling to Niagara Falls and the Smoky Mountains. He was an excellent cook and will be remembered for his Macaroni and Ham Salad. He also enjoyed making homemade ice cream and hosting Thanksgiving dinners for his family. A cowboy at heart, “Cowboy Jack” enjoyed his first horseback ride on his 80th birthday!

Jack will be missed by his Sons: Ronald Cottrill (Carol McKnight) and Terry Cottrill of Marion; Daughter-in-law, Dixie Cottrill of Marion; Grandchildren: Mike Cottrill (Amber) of Marion, Tamara Nail of Dublin, Charles P. Baldwin Jr. (Melissa) of Hillsboro, NJ, Shannon Baldwin (Marty) and Sean Baldwin (Sindey) both of Richwood; Great Grandchildren: Brittany, Michael, Aaliyah, Aiden, Isaac, Isabella, Timothy, Eric, Kirk, Holly, Noah, CC, Bailey, and Derrick; a Great Great Grandson, Cameron and a niece Cathy Williams and a nephew Richard Cottrill.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Mary Virginia (Dempsey); daughters: Bonnie Cottrill and Dixie Baldwin; Son-in-law, Philip Baldwin; Brothers: Robert, Richard, and Earl Cottrill; and best friend, Pete Bell.

Family will greet friends on Wednesday, January 20, 2016, from 4 to 7 PM at Gunder/Hall & Snyder Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held there on Thursday, January 21, at 12:30 PM with Rev. Joel Fetter officiating. Burial will follow in Grand Prairie Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made in Jack’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
