Phylliss V. ThackerPhylliss V. Thacker, age 85, of Marion, died peacefully Monday evening, December 28, 2015, at the Kobacker House in Columbus following a brief illness, with her loving family by her side.

Phylliss was born on October 20, 1930 in Marion, Ohio, the only daughter of the late Charles J. and Myrtle B. (Moore) Buckingham.  She graduated from Marion Harding High School.

Phylliss worked at various occupations, including stepping in to run her mother’s business, the Showboat Bar in Marion upon her mother’s passing in 1967.  After over 25 years at Geauga Plastics in Crestline, she was a Greeter at Walmart until she retired.

In addition to being a tireless worker, her grandson Shawn said it best…she was a “world class reader and baker of her one of a kind holiday pies, avid fan of jigsaw puzzles, bingo, country music, old movies and one exceptional grandmother!”

She was preceded in life by her first husband, Clinton (Bud) Lower and second husband, Clarence (Eddie) Thacker.  She will forever be missed by her children: Kathy (Lee) McCafferty of Richwood, Sharon Lower, Jay (Francis) Lower, Shelly (Terrance) Jones, all of Marion; nine grandchildren: Laurie (Terry) Davis, Susie, Shawn, Ian, Bry, Tyler, Macy, Aviana and Shealana; three great-grandchildren: Nikki (David) Lambert, Matt and Jared: four great-great-grandchildren: Kenzley, Lydia, Kayla and Jacob.

Her family will greet friends from 2 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, January 3rd, at the Gunder/Hall & Snyder Funeral Home, 347 W. Center Street, Marion.  Services honoring her life will also be held at the Gunder/Hall & Snyder Funeral Home at 11 a.m. on Monday, with Pastor Joe Rhea officiating.  Burial will follow at the Marion Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kobacker House for the loving and tender care given to Phylliss.  They were angels on earth for Phylliss and her family.  Donations may be sent to the funeral home.
