Dorothea Jean “Dottie” Davis, 87 of Richwood, died peacefully Sunday morning, January 31, 2016 at her home. She was born May 9, 1928 in Richwood to the late Dwight Thomas and Agnes Mae (Thompson) McElroy.
On June 8, 1947 she married Charles W. “Bill” Davis in the Richwood First Baptist Church and he died June 4, 2006. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Wilton and James McElroy and a great-grandson, Lucas Sharp.
A 1946 graduate of Richwood High School, she was a member of the Richwood First Baptist Church. She worked at Marblcast for 11 years and she and her husband, Bill had owned D & B Laundromat. Dottie was a charter member of the Richwood Volunteer Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary. She loved planting flowers, walking her dog and cheering the Buckeyes.
She is survived by her best friend and canine companion, Lucy Davis; her six children, Kathie (Donnie) Pfister, Northfield; Billie (Paul) Jordan, Richwood; Steven (Carissa) Davis, Richwood; Lisa (Gary) Kellogg, Prospect; James (Ashley) Davis, Bellefontaine; Amy (Sherry) Davis of Columbus; fourteen grand-children, Wendy Graham, Eric Mannasmith, Scott Jordan, Paula Parker, Christa Williams, Cory Davis, Fred Davis, Etta Jean Davis, Aunalee Kellogg, Jessica Schindewolf, Rachel Sharp, Joe Davis, Abby Beaulieu, Brooklyn Davis; twenty-four great-grandchildren Stacey Jolley, Erica Pettry, Austin Mannasmith, Alec Mannasmith, Natasha Bower, Vince Parker, Devin Parker, Alan-Michael Jordan, Hayden Jordan, Morgan Parker, Jordan Parker, Kinsey Burkard, Kylee Burkard, Logan Williams, Nevaeh Phillips, Maeve Davis, Preston Davis, Gabe Davis, Charlie Davis, Cameron Schindewolf, Peyton Schindewolf, Ellie Sharp, Gideon Sharp, Sean Beaulieu, ten great-great-grandchildren Izzy Pfister, Christjin Rodgers, Cyruss Jolley, Lucy Jolley, Darianna DeFlores, Taliya DeFlores, Lucas Bower, Lilly Bower, Landon Bower, Brailey Anderson; a brother, Ernie McElroy, Richwood; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, February 4, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood with Pastor Josh Hause officiating. Burial will follow in Claibourne Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM at the funeral home in Richwood.
