Melville A. (Gus) Judy II, of Marion

Melville A. (Gus) JudyMelville A. (Gus) Judy II was born in Huntington, Indiana, to Frank and Helen Judy. He was named after his grandfather.

The family moved to Marion when his father was transferred by the Erie Railroad. He graduated from Harding High School in 1943.

He served two years in Japan in the Army of Occupation and returned to Marion. He was an associate with Arro Expansion Bolt Co., and he served as a regional traveling sales representative for the next twelve years.

He married Barbara Orr, who is deceased.

He then joined the sales team at WMRN, where he worked for 22 years.

He was past president of Marion Evening Lions, a committee member of the U.S. Open Junior Drum and Bugle Corp. Competition, Big Brothers and Sisters, Sales Ad. Club, and the Cancer Crusade. He also served on the board for the restoration of the Marion Union Station. He served on U.S. congressman Clarence Brown’s military academy review board.

He married JoAnn Van Oosten, who survives. He is also survived by his step-sons Major Chris (Kim) Van Oosten of St. Louis, Missouri, and Andrew (Mary) Van Oosten of Marion, Ohio; his sister Josephine Judy of Marion, Ohio; and his grandchildren Chase and Kayla Van Oosten. He is preceded in death by his sisters Joan Kempker and Joyce Judy.

Graveside services will be held Monday, February 22, 2016 at 10 AM at the Marion Cemetery with Pastor Nick Worden officiating. The Boyd-Born Funeral Home is handling arrangements with the family.
