Alton Jack Moore, age 94, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Primrose of Marion. He was born August 16, 1921 in Floyd County, KY, to the late Edward Hawk and Samantha (Chaffins) Moore.
On November 16, 1946, he married Opal (Wicker) Moore. She preceded him in death on February 26, 2007.
Alton served our country from 1940 to 1945 in the United States Army. He was employed by Glen-Gary Brick as a maintenance supervisor for 25 years and was a member of 1st Freewill Baptist Church. He was a die-hard Cincinnati Reds fan, and a semi-pro player from Elkhorn Mines.
He is survived by his children: Roger (Beverly) Moore of Prospect, OH, and Lisa (Rob) Bradshaw of Dayton, OH; three grandchildren, Zack Bradshaw, Jack Moore and Colleen Moore-Mollencopf; two great grandchildren: Max Moore-Mollencopf and MaKayla Moore.
He was preceded in death by his brothers: Kelse Moore, Curtis Moore, and George Moore and his sisters: Doris Moore, Girvie Stumbo, Mary Layne, Freda Turner, and Ida Weitz.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 20, 2016 from 3 to 6 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Services will be held Monday, March 21, 2016 at 11 AM at the First Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Grand Prairie Cemetery.
