Doris “Jo” Dale, age 87, of Marion passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016, at 9:25 AM in her home.
She was born in Huntington, Indiana on October 2, 1928 to Chester G. and Thelma V. (Gordon) Gilkinson.
Jo married Richard H. Dale in Lakewood, Ohio on August 26, 1949 and he preceded her in death on August 19, 2014 in Marion.
She was a member of Crosswood United Methodist Church and a volunteer for the Girl Scouts of America, the Marion Free Clinic, Marion General Hospital Hospice Program, and the Mission Programs of the United Methodist Women of the Ohio West Conference.
Jo was a registered nurse for 40 years working for Dr. William H. Whitehead and the Marion General Hospital before retiring in 1990.
She is survived by three sons; Thomas (Kathy) Dale of Osterander, OH., Robert “Bo” (Patty) Dale of Marion, OH., & Scott Dale of Marion, OH., two daughters’; Mary Bussard of Enon, OH. & Sue (Henry) McDonald of Englewood, FL., a sister; Sue (Bud) England of Marion, OH., nine grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 23, 2016, from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be conducted by Pastor Joe Ziraldo on Thursday, March 24, 2016, at 11:00 AM with burial to follow in the Marion Cemetery.
