Lena “Opal” Ziegler, age 104 of Marion, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, March 21, 2016 at Kindred Community of Marion.
Opal was born on October 17, 1911 in Berlin Township of Delaware County. She was the daughter of Charles Foster and Cleo (Greasamer) Trigg.
Opal lived a very long and full life. She was a fun-loving person from a very young age. She loved to play pranks on people and was quite the jokester her entire life. She was a star basketball player during her school years and later was an avid fan of the Ohio State basketball team. She had a zest for life and people in general. She enjoyed playing cards and loved hosting people at her home. She gave back in many ways; she was a member of the Eastern Star, the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts and was a member of the Prospect Street United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her devoted son James W. (Mary) Ziegler of North Canton; grandchildren: Beth Anne (John) Eicher of Canal Fulton and Lisa Anne Ziegler of North Canton; great grandchildren: Brandon Eicher, Jeremy Eicher and Zachary Ziegler.
Opal is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband Howard Gaylor Ziegler; siblings: Irene Trigg and Ruth Zeigler; brothers-in-law: Gerald and Robert Ziegler.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 East Center St., Marion from 11AM to 12Noon; Funeral services will follow at 12Noon; Burial will be in Green Mound Cemetery in Kilbourne.
