William A. Klingel, age 88, of Marion died Sunday, March 27, 2016.
William was born July 3, 1927 in Waldo to the late Walter E. and Elizabeth A. (Schorr) Klingel.
William graduated from Waldo School and entered The US Navy proudly serving his country during WWII on the USS Midway.
William worked for The Whirlpool Corporation for 36 years retiring in 1992 as a tool and die maker.
He married Louise Bender on September 19, 1948 who predeceased him on July 24, 1954. On June 27, 1959 William married Janet Chontos; together they shared 41 years of marriage until her death on May 5, 2001.
William remained very close friends with his Waldo classmates throughout the years and enjoyed the monthly lunch outings they had. He was a member of St. Mary Church and enjoying spending time with his family.
William is survived by children, James (Cathy) Klingel of Dallas, TX, Michael (Stephanie Young) Klingel of Marion and Diane (Mike) Triplett, of Marion; grandchildren, Jason Klingel of Dallas, TX, Justin (Kasey Martin) Klingel of Marion and Sarah (Dustin) Larcom of Marion; and great-granddaughter, Lainey Klingel of Marion.
William was predeceased by brothers, Ralph and Ernest Klingel and sisters, Ida Arron-Stirtzinger, Dorothy Dutt, Marie Chapman, and Ruth Byers.
Friends may call from 4 until 7 pm Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Gunder/Hall & Snyder Funeral Home where funeral services will be celebrated by Father Thomas Buffer Thursday, March 31, 2016 at 12 noon. Burial will follow at Waldo Cemetery with Military Honors provided by The Marion County United Veterans Council. Memorial donations may be made in William’s honor to Ohio Health Hospice or St. Mary Church.
