Faye Garverick, 72, of Marion

Faye GarverickFaye Garverick, age 72, of Marion, walked into the loving arms of our Lord on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Kobacker Hospice House in Columbus following a long battle with ovarian cancer.

Faye was born in Yazoo City, Mississippi on January 18, 1944. The fifth of seven children of the late Robert and Eunice (Robertson) Bowman, she graduated from Bentonia High School, in Bentonia, Mississippi and attended Delta State College in Cleveland, Mississippi. While attending Delta State College, she met her husband Harry Garverick. They were married on December 27, 1963 and spent 52 years together. Faye dedicated her life to raising her three children Candice (Randy) Kantzer of Marion, Elizabeth (Steve) Wenzel of Springboro, and Todd (Shanna) Garverick of Marion.

A dedicated mother and grandmother, Faye loved spending time with her children and grandchildren attending all of their activities and rooting them on at their sporting events. Faye was very creative and worked as a floral designer/manager for Hemmerly’s Flowers for 15 years. After moving to Ada, Ohio she worked at Carol Slane Florist for 5 years. Faye’s love for flowers also lead her to design flowers for weddings and to selling her floral designs at Staghorn in Powell, Ohio. Faye retired from the floral design business but continued to design for her family and friends for years.

Faye was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Marion, where she enjoyed attending women’s Bible study. She also enjoyed her visits with Pastor Rick Farmer over the past several years.

Loyal, faithful and loving are words that describe Faye. She dedicated her life to her husband, children and grandchildren. Some of her most cherished moments were spent with her grandchildren, whom she adored. Faye was always the consummate southern belle, gracious, determined and her family’s steel magnolia.

Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband, Harry Garverick of Marion, her three children, and seven grandchildren Lauren, Hannah, and Grant Kantzer, Katie, Tyler, and Colin Wenzel, and Drew Garverick; five siblings; Robert (Olivia) Bowman, Ruby Alexander, Shirley (Robert) Churchwell, Curtis (Della) Bowman, and Riley (Judy) Bowman and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
