Lucinda “Cindy” Miller, age 73, of Marion, peacefully went to be with the Lord, Monday morning, June 6, 2016, following a six month battle with heart ailments.
On June 30, 1942, Cindy was born in Galion, Ohio, the only child of the late Harold and Maureen (Bergstrom) Faine. She graduated from Galion High School and worked at the North Electric Company.
After moving to Marion in 1964, Cindy raised three sons, and worked as a cook for the Marion City Schools. Wanting the best for her sons, she also attended an adult program at Tri-Rivers Career Center, and earned her degree as a LPN.
Cindy found her calling as a nurse, as being a caretaker came naturally to her. She loved caring for her patients at the Eastlawn Manor, Morning View Care Center, and most recently at the Kingston Residence, where she retired from in 2007.
Getting a second chance at love, Cindy was introduced to Neil Miller while visiting her sons at the Boy Scout Camp near Mount Gilead, where he served as the Aquatics Director. They were married on June 2, 1984, and they have shared the music of their hearts with one another for the past thirty two years.
A woman of faith, Cindy was a member of the Prospect Street United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir with Neil.
Having a green thumb, Cindy loved tending her flower garden every year, often encroaching into Neil’s vegetable garden. She also loved everything about nature, especially birdwatching.
For the past thirty two years, Cindy and Neil have enjoyed traveling, visiting from Florida to Hawaii and Alaska, to the Panama Canal, sharing countless memorable moments.
Cindy had a fun loving personality, as she was always cheerful and bright, but could also be ornery at times. She had a strong will, and was efficient with her time.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Neil Miller of Marion; three children: David (Thamer) Wright of Pembroke Pines, FL, Thomas (Salina) Wright, and Christopher Wright, both of Columbus; and two grandchildren: Josef and Nickalas Wright.
Her family will greet friends from 4 – 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, at the Denzer-Farison-Hottinger & Snyder Funeral Home, 360 E. Center St., Marion. Services honoring her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, at the Prospect Street United Methodist Church, 185 S. Prospect St., Marion, with Pastors Therese Lehman and Joe Miller officiating. Her family will again greet friends for the hour prior to her services. Burial will follow in Marion Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Prospect Street United Methodist Church, ℅ Organ Fund, or to Heartland Hospice, and they may be sent to the funeral home.
