Dan L. “Dano” WillmethDan L. “Dano” Willmeth, age 60, of Marion, died unexpectedly on Sunday evening, July 3, 2016, at the Marion General Hospital.

On January 19, 1956, Dan was born in Marion, OH, the son of the late Elmo Ronald and Marilyn Louise (Mayfield) Willmeth.  He graduated from Marion Harding High School.

Dan married his childhood sweetheart, Wilma Lee Sexton.  Together they had a son, Daniel Thomas Willmeth, who both preceded him in death.

Throughout the years, Dan was a self-employed contractor/carpenter.  He loved working with his hands, building his own home and also the houses which his sisters live in.

An outdoorsman at heart, Dan loved camping, hunting and fishing.  He enjoyed telling stories by the campfire as well as singing and playing his guitar.  He cherished riding his Harley and time spent with his dog, “T-Bone.”

Dan will be remembered as “10 foot and bulletproof,” a gentle giant with a heart of gold who would do anything for his family and friends.

Dan will be dearly missed by his three siblings: Sharon (Dennis) Rodman of Radnor, Gary (Cordell Hall) Willmeth of Delaware, Lisa (Clearence) Combs of Radnor; a niece, Janie (Dale) Close of Marion; two nephews: Ron (Sara) Rodman of Delaware, David (Jillian) Willmeth of Marion; numerous cousins; and his best friend, Rick Beechum of Marion.

Dan’s family will greet friends from 1 -3 p.m. on Friday, July 8, 2016, at the Gunder/Hall & Snyder Funeral Home, 347 W. Center St., Marion.  Services to honor and celebrate his life will be held at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Barkley Slone officiating.  Burial will follow in Chapel Heights Memory Gardens.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
