Harry A. “Bud” Mash, 93, of Marion

Harry A. “Bud” MashHarry A. “Bud” Mash age 93 of Marion, Ohio passed away Friday, July 1, 2016 at Riverside Methodist Hospital.

He was born February 17, 1923 in Prospect, Ohio to the late Roy and Minnie (Nichols) Mash.

Harry was married to Mary B. (Barnett) Mash; she preceded him in death on April 22, 1985.

Harry served with the 101st Airborne on WWII as a combat medic. Private First Class Mash took part in the D-Day Normandy Invasion, but was captured by a German patrol after parachuting in near Utah Beach. He was a POW for almost a year before being liberated by the Russians in April, 1945. Harry many honors include the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, German Occupation, European Theater, and the French Liberte Medals.

Harry was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and was employed at Baldauf Lumber as an estimator for many years.

He is survived by his son, Pete (Kimberly) Mash of Hilliard, OH, two grandchildren, Nathan (Haley) Mash, Mackenzie Mash, one great grandson, Cooper Mash. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, daughter, Melissa A. Mash, three brothers, Harold, Roy Jr., Howard and his sister, Maxine Lowe.

Visitation for Harry will be held Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 12-2 PM at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 2 PM with Rev. David Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow at Marion Cemetery with Military Honors by the Marion County Veterans Council. In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be to the Wounded Warriors.
