Nancy L. Snare, 79, of Marion

Nancy L. SnareNancy L. Snare, age 79, of Marion passed away Wednesday September 28, 2016 at the Mill Creek Nursing Home in Galion.

Nancy was born on Friday July 2, 1937 to the late Charles “Bill” Grooms and Erma R. Holt at home in Delaware, Ohio.  She was one of three children.

She was a 1955 graduate of Magnetic Springs High School.  Nancy had a passion for music and loved to sing, especially Gospel songs.  She enjoyed playing the guitar and even tried her hand at Yodeling.  Nancy was a singer with the Starlighters Dance Band in Marysville. She caught the eye and ears of RCA who offered her a contract which she kindly rejected.

Not only did she catch the eye of RCA but also the eye of a handsome young man by the name Kenneth V. Snare. He would attend all of Nancy’s shows and kept asking her out on a date.  At this time Nancy was so involved in her singing career that she kept kindly turning him away.  Finally she agreed to join him for a cup of coffee.  They were married on Wednesday April 21, 1971.  Together they raised two wonderful children and enjoyed 33 years of marriage.  Kenneth went on to prepare their heavenly home on October 4, 2004.

Kenneth and Nancy owned and operated the Campus Music Shop in Delaware.

Nancy also had a love for the outdoors.  She enjoyed gardening and would grow many different types of vegetables and flowers in her gardens.  She also enjoyed taking hikes.  When she would go hiking it would usually be 5 or 6 miles at a time.  Of course living in Ohio the weather didn’t always cooperate for Nancy to be outdoors so she also took up quilting and painting to pass the time.

Nancy had a huge heart and ways always willing to give back to her community.  She volunteered with the Red Cross on the disaster response team.  She would deliver blood to Columbus for the blood drives and would also respond to house fires to assist families and the first responders.  Nancy even found time in her busy schedule to become a Girl Scout Leader for Kim’s Girl Scout Troop.

A woman of faith, Nancy was an active member of the Church of God and formerly a member of the 1st Baptist Church in Marysville.  Being mission minded, Nancy enjoyed teaching Sunday school and being a part of the annual vacation bible school.

Above all Nancy loved her family.  She looked forward to any chance to get the family together.  Many cherished memories were made.
