Dustin Jones Redmond, Sr., age 92, of Marion and formerly of Galion, died on Tuesday afternoon, September 25, 2012, at his residence in the Primrose Retirement Community following a brief illness.
On July 13, 1920, Dusty was born in Centerville, Ohio, the son of the late Frank A. and Marie (Jones) Redmond.
A graduate of Case School of Applied Science, he served in the 5th Air Force in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
On September 20, 1946, he married Nancy Hiles, who preceded him in death on February 19, 2012. The Redmonds moved to Galion in 1946, where Dusty joined Lott Motor Company. Later, he was a sales executive with the former Hercules Galion Company and Premier Manufacturing Co., Indianapolis, IN, before starting his own manufacturers’ representative firm.
Dusty was an Eagle Scout, held a private pilot’s license, was a past president of the Galion Country Club, and was a member of the board of directors of the Galion Inquirer newspaper.
Dusty will be dearly missed by his three sons: Dustin (Janet) Redmond, Jr., of Marion, Dr. William (Dr. Nancy Merritt) Redmond of Terre Haute, IN, and Dr. Frank Redmond of Houston, Texas; six grandchildren: Judd (Brynn) Redmond, Allison (Travis) Redmond-Messer, Christopher Redmond, Nicholas Redmond, Shanna Rome, and Billie Rome Emas; a sister, Mary (Carl) Rocco of Macon, Georgia; and his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Dusty was preceded in death by his brother, Gomer H. Redmond.
At Mr. Redmond’s request, services will not be observed. A private family burial will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery in Carey, Ohio, at a later date.
