It was a quiet night for the Columbus offense as right-hander Greg Reynolds and the Bats shut them down in a 4-1 loss at Louisville Slugger Field.
The Clippers would quickly get on the board with a Jeremy Hermida solo homer in the top of the second. Hermida would go 4-4 on the night by following that homer up with three singles. The Bats countered with a two run single by Corky Miller in the bottom half of the frame. Louisville then added on to their lead with a Kristopher Negron RBI single in the fourth and later added some insurance in the bottom of the eighth with a Miller RBI sacrifice fly.
Columbus had a hard time solving Louisville starter Greg Reynolds (W, 5-0) as he limited the Clippers to one run on nine hits in 8 1/3 innings of work. Danny Salazar (L, 0-1) took the loss for Columbus. Curtis Partch (S, 1) closed it out in the ninth for the Bats.
The Clippers come home to Huntington Park as they begin a four game series with the IL West division leading Indianapolis Indians. Right-hander Joe Martinez (1-3, 5.65) will get the ball for Columbus
