Buffalo Downs Clippers 1-0

Justin Germano out-dueled Carlos Carrasco in a 1-0 Buffalo win over Columbus at Huntington Park.

This game had a quiet beginning as both combined for seven hits through the first seven innings. Carlos Carrasco pitched beautifully on the mound, blanking Buffalo on two hits while striking out five in six innings.

It would remain scoreless until the top of the eighth when Buffalo’s Andy LaRoche scored from third on a Sean Ochinko RBI sacrifice fly to left. Bisons right-hander Justin Germano delivered a fine outing, shutting out Columbus on four hits while striking out five in 7 1/3 innings.

The Clippers would not crack the run column in this game as they were shut-out for the 14th time in 2013. Germano (W, 7-7) got the win for Buffalo. Fernando Nieve (L, 5-3) was tagged with the loss for Columbus. Brad Lincoln (S, 5) tallied the save for the Bisons.

The Clippers continue their series with Buffalo on Wednesday night. Columbus will go with left-hander T. J. House (3-10, 4.79). The Bison will retaliate with righty Chien-Ming Wang (6-6, 2.62). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
