Indians Beat Clippers 3-2

A three-run sixth inning pushed the Indians past the Clippers 3-2 at Victory Field.

The Clippers got on the board first with a Matt Carson infield RBI single in the top of the second. Ryan Rohlinger later doubled that lead with an RBI double in the top of the sixth.

Indy’s Jerry Sands then gave his club a 3-2 lead when he cleared the bases with a three run double that bounced off the center field wall. It ruined what was otherwise a spectactular outing for Daisuke Matsuzaka who struck out three in seven frames.

That proved to be the decisive frame as Indianapolis came away with their second win in as many days against Columbus. Graham Godfrey (W, 9-7) received the win for Indy. Matsuzka (L, 5-7) was hit with the loss for Columbus. Duke Welker (S, 7) nailed down the save for the Indians.

Columbus will battle Indianapolis once again on Thursday night at Victory Field. The Clippers will tap the talents of righty Paulo Espino (2-4, 4.23). The Indians will retaliate with right-hander Stolmy Pimentel (2-4, 3.30). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
