Fahey Bank has announced the September Athletes of the Month for 2013 are Allison Tumey of Elgin and LJ Scott of Harding.
This is Allison Tumey’s second win of the Athlete of the Month program. Allison is a senior volleyball player for the Comets. She is co-captain of the team and has helped lead the team to a 12-5 start to the season including a win at Elgin’s Sherril Appelfeller Classic. Allison is an all-around player as both a setter and a hitter. She has 301 assists, 113 digs, 178 kills, and 96% serve percentage. Allison has been honored in the past as a Scholar Athlete.
Honorable Mentions were Kaden Zachman of Pleasant, Katie Kinnear of River Valley, Carli Swisher of Ridgedale, and Grecia Catalan of Marion Harding.
LJ Scott of Marion Harding is the Male Athlete of the Month for September. LJ, a senior, is an outstanding tailback who was featured this season on ESPN Sportscenter for the Top Play of the Week for a hurdling run at the September 23rd game. LJ averages 6.1 yards running per attempt. He is the current Harding school record holder of total yards per game with 383 yards against Mt. Vernon. LJ also excels in the classroom with a 4.58 GPA.
Honorable Mentions were Mason Clark of Elgin, Zane Burris of Pleasant, Caden Orewiler of River Valley, and Trent Hensel of Ridgedale.
