Buckeyes Down NCC 65-47

The Ohio State women’s basketball team concluded non-conference action with a 65-47 win over North Carolina Central Sunday afternoon to improve to 10-6 overall.

The win culminated from an all-around team effort, with eight different players having points in the box score. Senior forward Darryce Moore led the charge with 16 points and six rebounds followed by junior guard Maleeka Kynard, who notched 11 points. Defensively, the Buckeyes limited the Eagles to shoot just 27 percent from the floor, posting an 18-9 lead in points off turnovers.

Ohio State took control of the first half early on and held on to the lead, only allowing N.C. Central with 16 points at halftime to lead by 12.   The Buckeyes’ determined offense was able to benefit from the Eagles 21 turnovers for 18 points. At half, Moore was 4-of-7 from the floor to lead the team, while the team posted a 16-4 advantage in bench points.

Other point scorers included Martina Ellerbe with nine points, Ameryst Alston and Raven Ferguson with seven points. Cait Craft was 2-of-3 from three-point range to post eight points vs. the Eagles

The Buckeyes under first-year coach Kevin McGuff begin their Big Ten conference schedule against Purdue in Columbus at Value City Arena Thursday, January 2nd at 7 p.m.
