Bowlers Named March Athletes of the Month

Bowling PinThe Fahey Banking Company has announced the March Athletes of the Month for 2014 are Kyle Hall of Elgin and Shania Byrne of Marion Harding. Both athletes are bowlers who earned 2nd team All-Ohio honors.

Kyle Hall, an Elgin senior, is a repeat winner of the Fahey Bank Athlete of the Month award. The 2013-14 bowling season was the most successful year in Elgin school history. Kyle was a huge part of this team success with an average of 203.15 per game. The Comet bowlers won the MOAC tournament, placed 3rd in the district tournament, and 13th in the state tournament. Kyle rolled a 3 game series of 641 at the state meet to earn 2nd team All-Ohio honors.

Honorable Mentions were Ryan Maniaci of Pleasant, Collin Rollison of River Valley, Casey Nelson of Marion Harding, and Kasey Caudill of Ridgedale.

Shania Byrne, a junior at Marion Harding, is the ladies winner of the Fahey Bank Athlete of the Month award for March. Shania lead her team to a 18-3 dual match record, a team championship at the Redskin Classic in Port Clinton, and a second place finish at the Division 1 Sectional Tournament. Shania was the individual overall champion at the District Tournament with a 3 game score of 582. This qualified Shania to represent Marion at the State bowling meet. Shania bowled an impressive 602 at the state meet to finish 7th, for 2nd Team Division I All-Ohio honors.

Honorable Mentions were Jessy Goergen of Pleasant, Taylor Close of Elgin, Katie Meadows of Ridgedale, and Gigi Gooding of River Valley.
