The Fahey Banking Company has announced the May Athlete of the Month winners are Kayla Radcliff of River Valley, Cy Perry of River Valley, and Janik Tackett of Pleasant. The June Athlete of the Month winners are Hannah Campbell of River Valley, Hannah Ferguson of Ridgedale, and Kyle Galyk of Pleasant.
Kayla Radcliff, a junior at River Valley, won the May Female Fahey Bank Athlete of the Month for track. Kayla is a repeat winner of the Fahey Bank Athlete of the Month award, as she won in October 2013 for cross country. Kayla won the 800 m run at the Marion Harding Invitational, Marion County Meet, MOAC Track Meet, and the District Track Meets during the month of May. Then at the Regional track meet Kayla ran her career best in the 800 m with a time of 2:18.4 which qualified Kayla for the State track meet.
Honorable Mentions were Abigail Russell of Pleasant, Courtney Flach of Elgin, Carli Swisher of Ridgedale, and Taylor Hancock of Marion Harding.
Cy Perry, a senior at River Valley, was a co-winner of the May Male Fahey Bank Athlete of the Month award. Cy had a stellar baseball career for River Valley. Cy excelled as a pitcher and shortstop. At the plate Cy hit .474 for the season with 37 hits, 24 RBIs, and 29 runs scored. As a pitcher, Cy threw 45 innings with an ERA of 2.80. Cy earned Honorable Mention All Ohio honors this year as well.
Janik Tackett, of Pleasant, was also a co-winner of the May Male Fahey Bank Athlete of the Month award. Janik hit .400 during the month of May with 6 RBI’s, a double, a triple, and a homerun. As a pitcher in the month of May, Janik threw 8 1/3 innings striking out 9 with an ERA of 0.84.
Honorable Mentions were AJ Jones of Marion Harding, Noah Haynes of Elgin, and Monroe Britton of Ridgedale.
Hannah Campbell, a senior at River Valley, won her sixth and final Fahey Bank Athlete of the Month award with her June win. Hannah bettered her school record in the 3200 meter run with a time of 10:40.66 at the State Track Meet were she won the event setting a new state meet record and earning All Ohio Honors. Hannah improved her time in the 3200 m run by 15 seconds this year over her previously held school record.
Hannah Ferguson, a Ridgedale freshman, was named co-winner Fahey Bank Athlete of the Month for June. Hannah also set a school record by hitting a homerun in 3 consecutive games – and she did this twice! Hannah hit over .600 on the year, had 43 RBI’s, and 48 hits. Hannah recorded 89 strike outs in 111 innings of pitching for the Rockets and earned 11 wins on the season.
Honorable Mentions were: Brianna Caldwell of Elgin, Kaitlyn Mayer of Marion Harding, and Bekkah Slob of Pleasant.
Kyle Galyk, a junior at Pleasant, captured the June Male Athlete of the Month award. Kyle had a busy and successful spring for the Spartans as he played baseball and ran track. In baseball, Kyle had a .500 batting average, a .576 on base average, 28 RBI’s, and scored 30 runs. In track, Kyle excelled in both the 100 and 200 m dashes. Kyle won both of these events at the MOAC track meet. Kyle then qualified for the State track meet in both the 100 m dash and the 200 m dash. At the state meet, Kyle finished 7th in the state in the 100 m dash and 5th in the state in the 200 m dash. Kyle is now the school record holder in both events, with times of 10.6 in the 100 m and 21.6 in the 200 m.
Honorable Mentions were: Sam Hardin of Elgin, Tieran Mason of Marion Harding, Monroe Britton of Ridgedale, and De Clarke of River Valley.
