Cavaliers down Pistons 103-95

It was a dry, dull environment at The Palace of Auburn Hills on Tuesday night, but the Cavaliers exited with a 103-95 victory over the Detroit Pistons to claim their seventh consecutive win.

Playing in an unenergetic atmosphere on the road benefited the Cavaliers. For some reason the crowd wasn’t engaged and often there was dead silence during play. It was one of the few road games in which Cleveland failed to draw an audience to occupy every single seat.

It wasn’t as if Kyrie Irving and LeBron James cared. They combined for 70 points with Irving posting a season and game-high of 38 points to go with six assists and James supplying 32 points, six rebounds and seven assists.

The Cavaliers were in control for most of the game. Detroit (17-29) was without its best perimeter player in Brandon Jennings (Achilles tear), which made their scoring opportunities scarce. But once again the Cavaliers dominated defensively, limiting the Pistons to 42 percent shooting. It’s the fifth straight game that the Cavaliers have held their opponents to 42 percent or lower.

Cleveland (26-20) tied the season-series at one apiece and improves to .500 (11-11) on the road.

Greg Monroe registered 17 points and 12 boards, while D.J. Augustin provided 19 points and nine assists for Detroit (17-29), losers of its last three games.
