Bisons beat Clippers 13-10

Down 11-3 entering the bottom of the sixth inning, Columbus (26-20) battled back with seven runs to cut the Buffalo (25-22) lead to one, but the rally would fall short as the Bisons held on for the win and series sweep by a 13-10 final score on Thursday afternoon at Huntington Park in front of a season-high gathering of 10,100.

It was a game that saw a combined 28 hits from the two teams and home runs from the Bisons in the form of Junior Lake and Jesus Montero as well as the Clippers via Tyler Naquin and Yandy Diaz.

Columbus starter in southpaw Jarrett Grube (0-2) was tagged for eight earned runs on nine hits in two and 2/3 innings. He walked a batter and struck out three.

Buffalo’s Drew Hutchison (1-2) went five and 2/3 innings, allowing three earned runs on two hits while walking five and fanning four.

Ben Rowen picked up his first save of the year for his efforts in the ninth frame.

The Clippers will look to rebound Friday night in the Arena District as they will meet up with Durham for the first time in 2016 with the first pitch scheduled for 7:15 p.m. Lefty Ross Detwiler (0-2, 5.40 ERA) is set to throw for the clip show while righty Jaime Schultz (3-2, 3.40 ERA) is slated for the Bulls.
