What do tomatoes, German cookies, honey, quilts, and green beans have in common?  All of those items and more will be part of the new Downtown Marion Market set to kick off this Friday. Markets will run from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm every Friday through October 12, except for Marion Popcorn Festival week.

When you buy frozen yogurt from Groovy Spoon in Marion on Wednesday, June 27, the Boys and Girls Club of Marion County will receive a portion of your bill. 20 percent of all sales on Wednesday, between 5:00pm and 9:00pm, will go towards the non-profit, but if you bring in a special flyer, they’ll donate an additional 25 cents.

Applebee’s, United Way Team Up for Fundraiser

If you dine at Applebee's in Marion through June 30, from 11 am to close, 10 percent of the bill will be donated to United Way of Marion County’s education, income, and health initiatives when you present the flyer for the event. All you have to do is present the flyer for the fundraiser when you pay your bill at Applebee's.

Marion 4th Grader Places Second in Poetry Contest

Susan Konvalinka, a fourth grader from Marion, took second place in this year’s POET Tree poetry contest with a poem about the beauty of spring.

Fourth-grade students across the Midwest sent nature-themed poems to POET for the contest, which was organized around POET’s tree-planting activities during Arbor Day.
