A missing teen and a New Jersey man were located and arrested Monday after they disappeared together early Sunday morning. 13-year-old Dawn Gattshall of West Fairground Street in Marion was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center on an unruly juvenile charge. 19-year-old Buddy Bojacuick of Vineland, New Jersey, was arrested for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and interference with custody.
Neighborhood Complaints Lead to Drug Arrest
This morning, Thursday, June 24, the MARMET Drug Task Force served a search warrant at 139 West Walnut Street in the City of Marion in connection to a drug trafficking investigation. During the search, officers say they found drugs and made one arrest.
Marion Man Arrested for Alleged Prostitution Ring
On Friday, June 18, detectives from MARMET and the Marion Police Department made arrests in an alleged prostitution ring operating in the Marion community. Vincent Miller, age 47, was arrested on charges of Promoting Prostitution and Trafficking in Marijuana.
Two Grants Helping City Police
The Marion City Police Department is getting a boost from two grants. One is helping with the drug task force and the other will help purchase equipment for the department.
City Police Engaged In “Click It or Ticket” Campaign
The Marion City Police Department is joining with other law enforcement agencies in the national Click It or Ticket campaign. Officials say the zero tolerance effort is not only about enforcing the law, but also about gaining public awareness of the risks of not wearing a seatbelt.
City Council Holding Special Meeting
Marion City Council will meet in special session tonight (Wednesday) at 7:30pm. The meeting has been called to discuss the hiring of a grant specialist within the Marion City Police Deparment.
City Canine Officers Win Awards At Field Trials
Patrolmen Norm Ratterman and Matt Creps both brought back honors from the 2010 United States Police Canine Association Narcotic Field Trials in Montgomery County, Ohio.
There are two phases to the trials, including an indoor narcotics search and an outdoor vehicle search.
Patrolman Ratterman and partner Silver Bullit had a perfect score in the vehicle search and tied for 1st in that event. He placed 2nd overall.
Police Make Arrests For Alleged Counterfeit Bills
The Marion City Police Department says that on March 30, at approximately 8:36pm, a male subject entered the Speedway gas station on Delaware Avenue and attempted to purchase merchandise with counterfeit $20 bills.
The clerk told police she noticed a difference in the bills and verified they were not legitimate when the bills were marked with a currency pen. The clerk kept the bills and the subject paid for his purchase with real money.
According to police, the suspect was later identified as Joey Lee Callahan, 23, of 253 Libby Lane.
Investigation Leads To Eight Drug Arrests
The MARMET / METRICH Drug Task Force has announced the conclusion of a five month long drug trafficking investigation as of April 2, 2010. The task force says the investigation has led to eight arrests, with several more pending.
