MPH Urges Steps to Protect Against Mosquito-Borne Diseases
Sandy Bridenstine, Marion Public Health Environmental Health Director, is reminding residents of important measures that can be taken to reduce the risk of becoming infected with the West Nile Virus and other mosquito borne diseases. She says that in spite of the recent drought conditions, the risk of disease still exists.
Local Government Closings for Holiday
Local government offices and services will be closed or altered for the Fourth of July holiday on Wednesday.
Free Produce Offered Through WIC Farmer’s Market
On Tuesday, July 17, from 10:00am to 1:00pm, the Marion Public Health WIC Program will be sponsoring a Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program at the Marion County Fairgrounds. The WIC Farmer’s Market will give eligible WIC participants a chance to enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables through a coupon process.
Government Offices Closing for Holiday
In observation of the Memorial Day holiday, all divisions of Marion Public Health will be closed on Monday, May 28, 2012. The closing will include the WIC office and the Environmental Health, Public Health Nursing, Vital Statistics and Administrative Divisions.
Marion Public Health Adopts New Plumbing Registration Rule
The Marion Public Health Board of Health recently adopted Resolution #2012-002 which will require all plumbers doing residential work that requires a permit to be state licensed. Currently, only plumbers that work on a commercial building must be state licensed. The new requirement begins January 1, 2013.
Marion Public Health Offices Closing Early on Friday
Marion Public Health will close at 12:00pm on Friday, April 27, 2012 for employee in-service/training.
The closing will affect all divisions of the Marion Public Health including the Administrative, Vital Statistics, Environmental Health, Nursing, Emergency Preparedness, and WIC divisions.
Family Friendly Community Health Fair
Nucor Steel Marion and Marion General Hospital in partnership with the Marion MY and Marion Public Health is sponsoring a the Family Friendly Community Health Fair on Thursday, September 23, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Marion YMCA, 645 Barks Road East.
Farmer’s Market Offered to WIC Clients
Marion WIC is holding a Farmer’s Market for WIC clients on Tuesday, August 31, from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm at the Marion County Fairground’s Coliseum.
