Marion Public Health is highlighting the benefits of breastfeeding during August, which is National Breastfeeding Month. A new program to encourage breastfeeding was recently launched and there is a special event being held, in partnership with Marion General Hospital, on Tuesday, August 3.

Warning Issued Over Handling Wild Animals
Marion Public Health is issuing an advisory to all citizens throughout the Marion City and County areas regarding any type of interaction or contact with wild animals. The health department has received several bite reports from people taking in wild animals.

New Immunizations Required For 7th Graders
Under guidelines established by the Ohio Department of Health, Marion Public Health is reporting that all students entering the 7th grade in the 2010-2011 school year will be required to have a booster dose of the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) vaccine prior to the start of the new school year.
New Hours For Marion Public Health Offices
Beginning Monday, May 10, 2010 all Divisions of Marion Public Health will operate Monday-Friday from 8:00am-4:30pm.
Health Dept To Honor Logo Design Winner
The Marion Public Health board will meet in a regular session on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 5:00pm in the conference room of the Public Health Wing of Marion General Hospital.
The board will recognize Robin Coykendall as the winner of the Marion Public Health logo contest. Robin’s design will be available for preview.
