Two Arrested for Burglary of Marion Restaurant

The Marion County Sheriff's Office is investigating a burglary that took place at the El Campesino Mexican restaurant in Marion. Deputies arrested two suspects soon after the crime occurred early Saturday morning.

At approximately 1:34 am, August 28, the sheriff’s Office received a burglary alarm from the restaurant, 1834 Marion Waldo Road, and deputies arrived about 3 minutes later. Responding deputies determined that at a burglary had occurred and discovered evidence that suggested which direction the suspects had fled.

Additional deputies arrived to the area and observed a vehicle leaving the area. The vehicle was stopped and deputies say evidence observed in the vehicle, along with evidence found at the restaurant, suggested the occupants were involved in the burglary.

Investigators say the occupants of the vehicle were Dennis Higginbotham, 34-years-old of 587 Miami Street, Ramonita Cruz, 40-years-old also of 587 Miami Street, and a 16-year-old male.

Higginbotham was arrested for Breaking and Entering. Cruz was arrested for Complicity to Breaking and Entering and Child Endangering. The juvenile male was released to a guardian and was not immediately charged.

This incident remains under investigation and investigators say more charges may be filed once the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office reviews the case.
