Several Ways to Participate in Marion Popcorn Festival

Several events are hosted by The Marion Popcorn Festival throughout the three day festival. Events include art, softball, cornhole, and more. Entry forms are becoming available and interested participants are encouraged to register for their events.

The Popcorn Festival is sponsored in part by the City of Marion.

The Marion Popcorn Festival Fine Arts Juried Show and Sale will be held September 8, 9, and 10, 2011 in Marion City Hall on West Center Street. Artists may enter their work in advance by calling Tim Gorenflo at 740/361-0148 after 6:00 p.m., or by e-mailing him at [email protected]. This event is sponsored in part by the Mid-Ohio Fine Art Society.

The Marion Popcorn Festival Senior Softball Tournament is set for Saturday, September 10th, and Sunday, September 11th. The deadline for registration is August 26, 2011.  This event is hosted by the Marion Recreation Department. Juan Reco Pickens, Marion Recreation Department Adult Program Coordinator, serves as the tournament director, and states “I am very excited to have the seniors coming back to Marion and look forward to a great senior tournament.” For more information, or to register, call the Marion Recreation Department at 740-387-5446 or email [email protected].

The Marion Popcorn Festival Sixth Annual Cornhole Classic tournament is being held on Saturday, September 10, 2011. Registration is between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 pm. on the day of the event. Play starts at 12:00 noon. Each team is guaranteed four games.  Entry cost is $30.00 per team. For more information call Adam at 614-738-3483 or e-mail [email protected]. The Marion Popcorn Festival Popcorn 5000 5K run, a TAC Certified event, will be held Saturday, September 10, 2011. The Marion Popcorn Festival Popcorn Craft/Commercial/Community Area is open all three days of the festival. This area features craft items, commercial booths and a community area. The Marion Popcorn Festival 2011 Raffle consists of two separate raffles. Raffle tickets are currently available and will be available through out the three day event. Buyers will have a chance to win their choice of a new Harley-Davidson XL883 Sportster or a Honda TRX420 Sport Utility ATV. Tickets are $10.00 each or 3 for $20.00.
 
Also available this year is a VIP Package for Two for Country Artist Jason Michael Carroll.  The lucky winner of this raffle will win two Kernel Seats, two VIP passes, two beverage tickets, an autographed photograph and two backstage Meet & Greet passes with Artist. (Meet & Greet subject to Artist’s approval)
