Ohio State Raising Room and Board by Over $400

Ohio State University's trustees have approved an increase that would charge resident students an average of $465 more for room and board in the next school year.

The board of trustees approved the 5.5 percent increase on Friday.

On average, students would pay $8,874 for a room plus the basic meal plan, up from the current $8,409.

Officials at Ohio State say the extra money will be used for student housing expansion and renovation projects.

The board also approved a 3.3 percent increase in university health system charges and an average 5 percent increase in parking fees.
